Position summary:
The Director/Senior Director will lead a growing team responsible for in vivo studies (efficacy, pharmacokinetics and toxicology) as part of Kaleido’s groundbreaking efforts to apply drug discovery principles to the study of the microbiome. This individual will join a dynamic, highly collaborative team that combines significant drug discovery experience with leading knowledge of microbiome biology and computational approaches and will have responsibility for expanding the scientific reach of the department and for teambuilding and personnel development.
Key Qualifications:
• A proven scientific leader with 10+ years of industry experience in the execution, oversight, and analysis of animal models of human disease
• Ph. D. in Immunology, Physiology, Pathology, Cell Biology or related field
• Demonstrated track record of personnel development
• Industry experience as a drug discovery project leader or similar team leadership role
• Therapeutic expertise in oncology, immune disorders or gastroenterology highly desirable
• Strong grounding in mechanism of action studies and translational approaches required
• Outstanding teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
• Lead Pharmacology team, including recruiting and development of junior staff.
• Provide scientific leadership to discovery effort by spearheading efforts to connect microbiome biology to host physiology and to translate preclinical models into clinical development.
• Serve as part of the broader Research leadership team in setting goals, strategy, and budgets, and evaluating project progress.
